The last couple of days have been real nice. The boys are both progressing very well, and Ash and I are doing the same. We have had friends and family here almost every day and it seems to help comfort both of us. Braylon has been moved up to 3mL a day on feeding through his tube, and he is doing great with it. Every time that stuff hits his mouth he just goes into a sleepy state. We have been able to hold him once a day for anywhere from half an hour to 45 minutes. It’s so hard to let him go once they tell us to put him back. It’s also nice just to get that chance to hold him, because it means that he is getting better every day. Braylon’s big thing is that he still forgets to breathe every now and then. It happened twice while I was holding him and it scared the #$%@ out me. I didn’t know what to do and the nurse was in the other room, when she came back she said to try to get him to remember what to do by stroking on his chest. It didn’t matter I handed him back over to her and said I would try again later. That shook me up for the rest of the day.
Kaden’s bilierubin has been showing signs of going down. This is the most concerning with him right now, but the better it gets the closer we are to holding him as well. They have been giving Kaden about 1mL of his strength juice and he seems to love it. When we were swabbing his mouth he would latch on to the swab and cry when we would take it out. That was a good sign because he was really taking to it and learning to suck, swallow, and breathe at the same time. We can’t wait till we can hold Kaden. I bought so books so I can start reading to the boys and when I’m gone Ash will read. It sucks because I’ll be leaving this coming Tuesday and won’t be back until next Saturday. I bought the boys some presents so they will think of me when I’m gone.
I guess there are some new people reading the blogs and if you want to see how the boys started out at the bottom of the page you are able to view older post. These post will be getting moved off the main page because I can’t keep from putting pictures up of the boys.
