One week old!!!!!!!!!!

One week down, and the boys are doing good. Braylon has been bumped up to 11mL of milk, he still has to have his biiruben light for a little longer but is looking good. We are getting to hold him once a day for about a half n hour. The nurse tonight said he is doing well but his heart rate will occasionally drop; which has been happening and gave me a scar early last week when he did it twice as I was holding him. That is not to worry he is strong and will pull through it. Kaden has also been bumped up on the milk intake, not as much as big bro but he is at 5mL and will continue to go up 1mL every 6 hours. He had his biliruben light taken off and is just hanging out now. He no longer needs his sunglasses and we are starting to see his eyes stay open longer every visit.
It has been nice that the boys are on a care schedule. The care schedule allows us to change them, check their temp, and see how they are with us. They have been discovering our voices very well, when their eyes will open we can talk and they will follow our voices. It has been great being able to spend so much time with them and watching them progress. Lately I have been getting every dirty diaper. Ashley and I switch changing the boys every care time, and it seems she gets all the wet diapers and I get the dirty little surprises. Today at our 5 o’clock care time Kaden gave her a surprise. It wasn’t a big mess but she was just getting done wiping him but Kaden wasn’t finished. He sent a little torpedo out of the shoot and it landed right on the top of her hand, I was so proud of him that he did that to her and not to me. What a great little guy! It must have been the mood of the night because when I was able to hold Braylon at 8; I had just got done saying how comfy he looks and how great it was to hear his little mouth breathing in and out. Then it was time to put him back in his bed when I noticed he had piddled on my shirt, it was wet and soaked all the way through. Ash wanted me to sit with my shirt off but I told her that I didn’t want all nurses to get sick, and since that had happen it was another good reason that I kept it on. Everybody kept their dinners down, and I didn’t have a little trickle from Braylon’s faucet running down my bare chest. The night nurse we have had the last couple of nights hasn’t had the most sense of humor so I have been trying to break the ice, last night she kept banging into things and I told her “just because you are having a bad night don’t take it out on the kids” she laughed a little and was a bit more easy going. Well tonight she was our nurse again and I kept making little jokes here and there but nothing was working very well. So after Braylon had peed on me I said jokingly of course, that when he comes home I’ll pay him back by peeing on him, the nurse looked up at me with blank look. I think she thought I was serious and things were kind of weird again. I told her not to take me serious; she smiled, and then turned and walked away. Safe to say, I hope she didn’t take me serious and that we get a new nurse tomorrow night. She wasn’t a bad nurse; it just might be a little weird tomorrow if she is there. I guess I just get a little nervous and try to lighten the mood, but this time it back fired. My bad!
Today we also took a tour of the Ronald McDonald house. It was a lot bigger than I had expected. The people there seem really nice and there was a lot of room. They have 3 floors, a huge kitchen area that is made up of 3 different kitchens and a nice back yard. I instantly noticed a basketball hoop outside and it was down low enough that I could dunk on it, about 5’ or so, any higher and I would have to jump and would probably embarrass myself. Also today my Grandparents aka great grandparents came to visit for the first time. They seemed to love the little guys and were amazed like everyone else on how small they were when you see them in person. Our friend Rachel, her Dad, their new family member Jason also showed up and we had a nice visit as well. I guess that is all tonight. It is going to be sad because this is my last night up here until Saturday when I will come up after work. I’m going to get some home projects done and that should keep me busy until then.
more pics to come
we have pics of the boys after 1 week, great grandparents, mom and dad with boys, and their first bears from grandma brenda

  1. Ashley, Byran and the Boys!!
Wow! Was I shocked, when I came back to work after being off for a few days and found out that the boys could not wait any longer to make their arrival. My prayers and thoughts have been with you all. I have enjoyed reading Byran's updates on the boys' progress. Byran, you could be a writer. Your style is unique. Ashley, you look great. Can't tell you have just gave birth to twins. They are so precious. My niece was borned 8 weeks early and weighed in at 2 lbs and 11 oz. Today she is 28 and you would never know she was a preamie. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you all. Prayers and love, Sally Reel

  2. Whew!! Ashley and Bryan - you two just exude love for those babies!!! It's in your eyes, in your movements, everything. You're both just perfect parents. Watching you two with those boys can actually bring tears of joy to anyone watching.

GGrand Betty says that she weathered the trip pretty darn well so I'm sure we'll be back on US195 quick - there's a love fest going on for those two boys and GGrand is wearing out the printer making copies of the available photos.
    God Bless you four.
